This tour is ideal for travelers who want to see the region’s most iconic highlights in a single, organized day.
Our first stop is the breathtaking Sumela Monastery, one of the most remarkable landmarks of the Black Sea region. Located inside Altindere National Park, we drive through the scenic valley, continue with the national park shuttle service, and then follow a 350-meter forest path before reaching the monastery on foot. Along the way, you may visit St. Barbara’s Chapel and enjoy panoramic views over the Altindere Valley.
Upon arrival, the monastery’s stone arches, cliffside structure, and panoramic terraces create an unforgettable atmosphere. With your professional guide, you will explore the rock-hewn main church, frescoes, student rooms, guesthouse, library, and sacred spring while learning about its Byzantine history and architectural significance. During the free time provided, you can explore at your own pace and capture memorable photographs from the terraces overlooking the valley.
After visiting Sumela, our route continues to Zigana Pass, located 2,050 meters above sea level along the historic Silk Road. Known as one of the most important mountain crossings in the region, this scenic stop offers impressive panoramic views of the Pontic Mountains. We take a short break here to admire the dramatic landscape and fresh mountain air.
Our final stop is the charming village of Hamsikoy, famous for its traditional rice pudding and peaceful atmosphere. During the lunch break, you can taste local flavors and experience the authentic Black Sea village lifestyle.
